OUR SOCIETY

The Society was officially formed in 1978 after several years of meeting in member's homes. It currently has a membership of about 100 and meets for the autumn, winter and spring months in St. Michael's Parish Centre off Manor Road on the third Tuesday of the month at 7.30 p.m. except for December.   The subscription is £7 per annum.  Visitors are always welcome at a charge of £2 per meeting, refunded if they join on the night.

Speakers' topics vary from local to national and international subjects of historical interest and are advertised by posters around the town.

In summer visits are made to local places of interest, sometimes connected to the subject of a previous talk.
